UTI AMC Overview:

UTI Mutual Fund was carved out of the erstwhile Unit Trust of India (UTI) as a Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) registered mutual fund from 1 February 2003. The Unit Trust of India Act 1963 was repealed, paving way for the bifurcation of UTI into:

Specified Undertaking of Unit Trust of India (SUUTI) and
UTI Mutual Fund (UTI MF).

UTI Mutual Fund is promoted by the four of the largest Public Sector Financial Institutions as sponsors, viz. each holding 18.24% stake in the company

State Bank of India,
Life Insurance Corporation of India,
Bank of Baroda and
Punjab National Bank

T Rowe Price Group Inc (TRP Group), through its wholly-owned subsidiary T Rowe Price Global Investment Services Ltd. (TRP), has acquired a 26% stake in UTI Asset Management Company Limited (UTI AMC).

UTI Mutual Fund has been the pioneer for launching various schemes viz:

UTI Unit Linked Insurance Plan (ULIP) with life and accident cover,
UTI Mastershare,
India’s first Offshore Fund – India fund,
UTI Wealth Builder Fund

2. Overseas funds

The overseas fund is managed by UTI International Ltd. Which is a 100% subsidiary of the company. The AUM of the overseas fund as on 31.03.2019 was INR 11,875 Crs.

3. Portfolio management services: The AUM under PMS as on 31.03.2019 was INR 136,999 Crs. The PMS has 174 active clients which include HNIs, Corporates, Institutions, Government organizations and Overseas Investors.

Subsidiaries: The company has 4 subsidiaries as under:

UTI Venture Funds management company Pvt. Ltd: The company is one of the leading private equity firms in India, which greatly impacts the UTI AMC Share Value. The company invests across sectors by providing growth capital to entrepreneurs alongside providing them with Industry knowledge and business network across the globe.
UTI International Limited: UTI International Handles the marketing and administration of offshore funds managed by the UTI AMC. It is also responsible for developing new products for offshore activities.
UTI Retirement Solutions Ltd.: The company is one of the asset managers for pension funds of the central government employees under defined contribution-based pension system.

UTI Capital Pvt. Ltd.: UTI capital is a SEBI registered venture capital fund for investments in various sectors including but not limited to infrastructure, real estate, distressed assets, special situations, fund of funds, software, agro-processing, healthcare, pharmaceutical, biotechnology or any service or manufacturing industry.
